Long COVID and Post-Viral Symptoms

Tired man at desk with laptop and crumpled paper.

Long-COVID

Long COVID and post-viral illness can cause a wide range of persistent symptoms, including breathlessness, fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance, cough, chest discomfort, palpitations and disturbed sleep. Symptoms can vary considerably between individuals and may have more than one contributing cause.

I provide a comprehensive, individualised assessment, taking time to understand the pattern of symptoms, their impact on day-to-day life and any investigations or treatment already undertaken. An important part of the assessment is identifying potentially treatable respiratory or cardiovascular problems while avoiding unnecessary investigation.

Where clinically appropriate, further assessment may include blood tests, lung function testing, imaging, echocardiography, sleep studies or cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). The investigations recommended will depend on the individual clinical picture rather than following a standard testing pathway.

For people whose routine investigations have been reassuring but who remain limited by breathlessness or exercise intolerance, further assessment can sometimes help to understand the factors contributing to persistent symptoms and guide an appropriate approach to recovery and symptom management.

Fees

Long COVID assessments are charged at the same fee as standard consultations , £250 (Initial) and £185 (follow up).

Extended follow up appointments are available upon request (£275).

Urgent consultations outside usual clinic hours can be arranged ad hoc and are charged at £300.
