Breathlessness & Cough

We understand how worrying it is to feel breathless.  Dr Brame has a specialist interest in unexplained breathlessness and the investigation and management of patients with these symptoms.

Breathlessness can happen for a wide range of reasons : cardiac, respiratory, allergy, gastroenterological, haematological, neurological and muscular or skeletal.  We will arrange a complete assessment of your symptoms and can perform all the relevant investigation at HCA London Bridge and the Lister Hospitals.

These may include blood tests, scans, breathing tests, sleep tests, echocardiograms and ECGs and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.  We can do these rapidly and provide swift follow up and management advice including: treatment or onward referrals for additional tests or opinions as needed.

Coughs and colds are common and usually settle within a week or two.  If you find things are not getting better or:

• you’ve had a cough for more than three weeks
• your cough is waking you at night
• you cough up blood 
• If you have experience shortness of breath, breathing difficulties or chest pain
• you have any other worrying symptoms,

We can provide a rapid and complete assessment of your cough. You will have an initial consultation and will be referred for diagnostic tests including imaging (x-rays or CT), blood tests, breathing tests and treatment can often commence on the day of your appointment.

Standard consultations , £250 (Initial) and £185 (follow up).  

Urgent consultations outside usual clinic hours can be arranged ad hoc and are charged at £300 for the first 30 minutes and £185 for each subsequent 15 minutes.
